Leadership Opportunities

My title and role at Lee Academy Pilot School is principal. I am seen as the head/face of the school; It is a role that comes with immense responsibilities and power, however, it is not the only one in the school with influence. We outperformed the district in math! It was not my doing. As I have been saying since last year, we have all that we need right here at Lee Academy. We all have the ability to make an impact at our school when it comes to instruction, climate, culture, student support, behavior, health, and wellness etc. You all have influence and your voice is valued and vital. There are many opportunities for you all to exercise that power and influence. It is more than the Election to Work Agreement, but the collective to raise the bar and standard to make Lee Academy the best school in Boston. Sign up for one of the committees in the hope we can get them lifted off the ground before the end of the month.

Special Education/Support

SST:

As of this weekend, we still do not have any students slated to be presented. Reminder, meetings will take place on Fridays from 11:15-12:15.

ABA Class

As of now, it appears the ABA class will start October 4, 2022. There is a notification of one student thus far. It will be a slow rollout until all staff is cleared to work in the ABA room.

Operations

Safe Mode:

The drill will take place on Wednesday, October 5th at 10:45. Please cover the expectations with students for the next couple of days and why we do it. Ensure them, when they are in school they are safe and just like the fire drill, we have to practice. Here is the safe mode script and expectations. Please be cognizant of the time and ensure all students are in the classroom before we begin. I do not plan for it to take no more than 3 minutes from when I make the announcement. Once I make the announcement, floor captains will ensure all classroom doors are locked and lights are turned off (except for the science classroom)

Bulletin Boards

Please have relevant student work/artifacts on the bulletin boards in time for the open house next Tuesday.

Recycling

Reminder, recycling is the responsibility of the homeroom staff.

Bathroom/Recess Policy from last year

The bathrooms in the basement are NOT gender-neutral. The bathroom by the science room who identified as female in SIS and the bathroom by the kitchen is for students who are identified as male in SIS. Students who are non-binary should use either the nurse’s bathroom or the bathroom on the first floor with adult supervision from the hallway.

Staff Shout Outs (link to form)

Marc: thanks for making apple cider donuts with so many classes. I know it was a lot of work (A LOT!) but the kids were so excited and will likely remember the experience for quite some time. -Ms. Purple

Let’s get more shoutouts for next week!!!!!!
