Updates

Teacher Appreciation Week

PD for Next Year:

As a grade level, please begin to look at the offerings next year for district-provided PDs. As stated

previously, my hope is to provide teachers with more choices and autonomy. Our Instructional Focus will

be announced in the near future as it will be constructed in a couple of principal meetings. It will focus

on the writing component of the equitable literacy initiative.

  1. SY23-24 Course Catalog: The SY23-24 Course Catalog is now available. As schools identify their

  2. instructional focus for SY23-24, the catalog can be used to select professional learning opportunities that

  3. will support educator development in alignment with the school’s IF. Teams should plan for the application

  4. of concepts from professional learning during collaborative planning time. The catalog is a living document

  5. and additional courses may be added. All events and courses with set dates are posted in Vector.

Airtames:

Unfortunately, there was an error with the Airtames that were ordered for this year but it has since been

corrected. They are expected to arrive between May 10th and May 25th.

Synopsis of the last Governing Board Meeting

  • Review of the breakdown of next year’s budget.

  • Updated of the minor changes/agreements to the ETWA:

  • Alignment to BTU contract: Classroom Teachers (Gen and Sped Licenses no ESL required)

  • 23-24 Calendar by June 15, 2023, before teachers leave

  • PD hours will remain the same but more teacher choice

  • LAPS and Extended Learning School Time: based on the current MOU (excerpts below), because we are a

pilot school, we cannot become an ELT school. Members of the Governing Board will continue to explore the idea by conducting research on other autonomous schools in the district and reaching out to the Assistant Superintendent of Autonomous Schools. Nothing can change for next year. The only change we are trying to make is to the dismissal time at 3:25 rather than 3:15.

Data

Last Week’s Attendance:

From grades 1-3; we currently have 14 students who are listed as critical. Meaning they have missed

about 20% of the school year thus far. These will be prioritized for home visits and attendance meetings

after the break. Their absences range from 27-48 days. Please see Govi with any concerns you have

regarding students regarding attendance.

Literacy

Lexia Core 5:

I am in the works of trying to get 70 more licenses for our school. This late in the year, hopefully, they

can identify licenses across the district that are not being used and allocate them to us. Hopefully, I will

hear from them soon.

Math

Current Progress:

We are currently at 43% progress completion as a school. Our goal is 80% Shoutout to grade 1 who are

well on their way to meeting the target. Individually, students should be at 66% at the end of the week.

IEP ARs:

Teachers will not be expected to attend the ARs during the break. If all reports are uploaded as soon as

possible, please contact Bonnie and she will schedule the meeting and have a “reader” who will present

your report.

Hi,

There is a good chance there will be some meetings held over the April break if reports are uploaded on

edplan.  I am hoping some can be LAPS  meetings and with that the below are meetings. If you can

have the staff have their AR's and goals uploaded before the break that would be great.
