Updates

PD:

Professional Development this week will be facilitated by Ms. Jasmin. It will be a follow-up to the last

PD which also aligns well with all of the conversations that have been occurring in the Inclusion Team

meetings and how we can best support students. The PD will take about an hour. The rest of the time will

be for teachers to use at their discretion to get several items that need to be completed: progress reports,

report cards, subfolders, and IEP meetings (many meetings coming up).

Retirement Planning

An advisor from Equitable will be available Thursday, March 30th before school for anyone interested in

discussing retirement planning and/or 403b plans.

Career Day:

Family Council/Mr. Lambrught is currently planning career day for May. The two proposed dates are the

19th or 26th. Here is last year’s schedule and presenters. If you have any suggestions and/or feedback, please feel free to share them. If you know of someone

who may like to present this year or share what they do, please forward the names and emails to me as

soon as possible.

Staff Handbook:

The link will also be below in the links section every week.

April PD Clarification:

The two hours do not need to be completed during the same week/day the April 5th PD would have

taken place. Just need to fulfill the hours by before the week of June and show proof. Many of you have

been taking PDs outside of school hours already and those hours will qualify.

Chromebooks for Paras

There are four Chromebooks in the main office that can be lent out to paraprofessionals to help support

the learning and classroom teachers. For example, inputting data, to use in absence of a classroom

teacher, etc. The Chromebooks are in the office in a black bin with a green cover with a sign-out sheet

on top. Chromebooks must be returned by the end of the day.

After-School Programs/Clubs:

If signed up to run a club, you may start as soon as you are ready. Please let me know if you would like to check-in. Staff members will be paid the BTU contractual hourly rate at $55.16 for teachers. I have not confirmed what the rate is for paraprofessionals. Please discuss with planning the number of planning hours. I do want to honor everyone’s time.

Parameters:

  1. At least two adults should run the club/program

  2. The program should be made available to at least 15 students

  3. Materials purchased will be reimbursed

  4. Letter/permission describing the program should go home at least one week before the start of

  5. the program. The program should request parents’ phone numbers and an emergency contact.

  6. Let me know how many weeks/sessions as soon as possible so we can process the stipend right away

  7. and get it ready.

  8. Have FUN!

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Data

Attendance:

Our Year to Date daily attendance is at 88.7%. FST and the principal have begun to hold attendance

meetings. We are aware there is a virus going around and the district has been providing overtime to Mr.

Bill to do some extra cleaning over the weekend. Moving forward, Mr. Bill and Mr. Eric will fog the rooms

once a week.

Literacy

Strategic Small Group Instruction PD

Description: This module is geared toward educators already trained in Fundations who want to refine their practice around data-driven, strategic small-group instruction. Participants will

build both knowledge and skills in culturally & linguistically sustaining foundational literacy practices,

such as the use of multiple-criterion decodable text. This version of the module has been condensed from

the longer 8-session course.

Where: Sessions held virtually

When: Six Wednesdays, 4:30-6:30pm (April 12, April 26, May 10, May 24, June 7, June 14)

IEP Meetings:

Below is the list of students who have IEP meetings that are scheduled or will be scheduled between

now through the month of April. These meetings cannot be postponed or changed because we have a

covering COSE who is now responsible for up to 12 schools. Please be patient with Bonnie. She is trying

to get to all our cases and balances our school with many others. It is important to get all documents,

assessments and forms uploaded in a timely manner. There have been several emails to staff members

due to missing items. Coverage is very tight at the moment, but I am trying to get substitutes in the

building to support teachers for coverage to get these items and other things done. It is possible we may

have a substitute here all next but staff attendance will determine how the substitute is utilized. If support

is needed, please reach out.

Operations

Documentation:

Currently, we only have 117 students out of 207 students with notes on Panorama. We need to be

documenting communications with families.
