Which quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. most resonates with you?

  1. “No one really knows why they are alive until they know what they'd die for.”

  1. "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."

  1. "Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase."

  1. "Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity."

  1. “I fear I am integrating my people into a burning house.”

Roof Inspection

From Planning and Engineering Department/Facilities”

“We are inspecting the Baldwin School today and will be moving to your school next.  I expect

the lift to be at your school by Friday (1/20/23) give or take a few days. The purpose for this

inspection is to identify any loose masonry on the exterior of the building. After my inspection

a contractor will be knocking off any loose material to make it safe.”

I am doing my best to get them to ensure the lift will come after the 20th given the Winter

Showcase this Friday.

Dentist Vist:

Great news! The in-school dentist is coming to Lee Academy on 02/06/23 and 02/13/23. Your

child brought home a permission slip this past Monday for families to complete/sign and send

back to the school by 12/19/22 OR you can simply sign up your child today at

www.myschooldentist.com.

Even better, dental care is usually at no cost to you. All insurance is accepted including

Medicaid and CHIP. For those without insurance, a low cost self-pay option is available.

Convenient and comfortable

Our in-school dental program saves you time and provides a safe and comfortable

place for your child to receive gentle dental care from licensed local professionals.

Dental care includes a complete dental exam, x-rays, cleaning, fluoride and sealants

when necessary, and in some cases, restorative care such as fillings.

Dental care for a healthy life

Children who see a dentist regularly may have fewer health issues like:

  • Early tooth loss caused by dental decay

  • Gum disease

  • Heart disease

  • Impaired speech development

Help keep your child healthy, in school and learning.

Simply go to www.myschooldentist.com.

If you have any questions reach out the the school nurse, Marthe Jean-Jacques, at

617-635-8618.

Data

Last Week Attendance:

So far, we have had very few cases of COVID/RSV reported. We encourage teachers and

paras at this time to conduct Home Visits as a tier 2 strategy. I understand some people are

skeptical seeing they have not been paid from the visits back in August. I assure you the

money is there and that Ms. Zoraida is working hard on completing the transfers. It’s difficult

at this time because it is budget season and many finance/budget person are busy.

Operations

Safe Mode/Containment Drill (1/18):

We will be conducting a Safe Mode drill this week on Wednesday. Please speak to your

scholars about the importance of knowing where to go and what to do, when we are in safe

mode. Here is a script that should be shared with students. It is imperative that scholars stay quiet and out of sight during the safe mode drills once they

hear the words “Code Red” over the intercom. Classroom doors should be shut, and a piece

of chart paper should be used to cover the window on your door. Safe Mode is not over until

you hear our safe phrase “All Clear.”

I know many of the doors at the school have broken windows and  work order has been

placed to have the windows fixed or the doors replaced.

Reminder about Propped Doors- Please be mindful that no doors should be propped at

any time for the safety and security of our students and staff.

Shoutouts

Govi, Jen, and Jasmin (hopefully not forgetting anyone): Thanks for organizing and putting together the Bring Your Parent To School event on Friday.

Enable 2-Step Verification on your Google Account

Fall is our favorite time of year but nobody likes it when they fall for a phishing scam! Protect

yourself against phishing scams (and stop these terrible puns) by enabling 2-step verification

today!

The link below will take you to the instructions and we recommend downloading the Gmail app for iPhone or Android ahead of time. The Gmail app saves you time by turning the 2-step verification into a simple

yes or no, instead of using text-message codes.
